HeartMath

Calm your mind, open your heart.

HeartMath is a scientifically proven method for reducing stress and anxiety. These simple tools and techniques have been shown to improve resilience to stress and to improve both physical and emotional health through the synchronisation of the heart and brain.

Stress Management

HeartMath focuses on using breathing techniques and biofeedback tools to help individuals regulate their emotions and reduce stress levels effectively.

Heart-Brain Connection

The core principle of HeartMath is the understanding of the intimate connection between the heart and brain, emphasizing the importance of coherence between the two for optimal health and performance. These techniques guide you back into a state of inner coherence through heart-focused breathing techniques.

These techniques are backed by 30 years of fascinating scientific research, carried out by the HeartMath Institute and others.

  • Over 30 years of scientific research conducted at the HeartMath Institute on the psychophysiology of stress, emotions, and the interactions between the heart and brain. Over 500 peer-reviewed or independent studies utilizing HeartMath techniques or technologies to achieve beneficial outcomes have been published.

  • “Most of us have been taught in school that the heart is constantly responding to “orders” sent by the brain in the form of neural signals. However, it is not as commonly known that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart! Moreover, these heart signals have a significant effect on brain function – influencing emotional processing as well as higher cognitive faculties such as attention, perception, memory, and problem-solving. In other words, not only does the heart respond to the brain, but the brain continuously responds to the heart.” - The HeartMath Institute

  • “HeartMath Institute research has demonstrated that different patterns of heart activity (which accompany different emotional states) have distinct effects on cognitive and emotional function. During stress and negative emotions, when the heart rhythm pattern is erratic and disordered, the corresponding pattern of neural signals traveling from the heart to the brain inhibits higher cognitive functions. This limits our ability to think clearly, remember, learn, reason, and make effective decisions. (This helps explain why we may often act impulsively and unwisely when we’re under stress.) The heart’s input to the brain during stressful or negative emotions also has a profound effect on the brain’s emotional processes—actually serving to reinforce the emotional experience of stress.

In contrast, the more ordered and stable pattern of the heart’s input to the brain during positive emotional states has the opposite effect – it facilitates cognitive function and reinforces positive feelings and emotional stability. This means that learning to generate increased heart rhythm coherence, by sustaining positive emotions, not only benefits the entire body, but also profoundly affects how we perceive, think, feel, and perform.”

    The Science of HeartMath

HeartMath is an easy-to-learn, powerful system of self-regulation that is designed to be applied in the moment, to help you bring the best version of yourself to work, social life and your personal life.

What sets HeartMath apart from other self-regulation systems is its ability to be practised using bespoke HRV (Heart Rate Variability) Coherence technology (biofeedback). This provides you with real-time information about your internal state, helping you to become more aware of your emotional state and increase your self-regulation skills. It also builds motivation to continue practicing because you can see the real time effects of these simple techniques.

During a session...

Sessions typically last 1 hour, fully guided and supported using the biofeedback technology so that you can begin to see improvements straight away. Practice in between sessions is designed to be accessible and manageable; we’re all pretty busy these days so we understand that lengthy self-practice might only add to your stress load, let’s keep it simple.

With a little patience and practice you’ll begin to feel the benefits in different aspects of life.

  • Reduced Stress.

  • Improved Sleep.

  • Restored Energy.

  • Balanced Emotions.

  • Increased Focus.

  • More Intuition.

  • Improved hormonal balance.
